Thinking Aloud

This is actually my third blog, a continuation from my previous blogsite at blogger.com. The reason for change may not be clear to some, but apart from the aesthetics of Wordpress, the ability to categorize posts is what I have been looking out for. Third? What about the second blog. It was a Xanga actually, and I had wanted to use to post fan fiction. It never got off the ground. But why am I telling you this? Why even dedicate a whole new page outside the flow of the normal posts? The purpose of this blog is to record my thoughts, daily occurences, things that make my day significant. Little pieces of a puzzle that form together, threads that weave into a tapestry; a way of remembering, of recalling and a way to learn to be grateful. Blogging is a discipline I guess. It's not just a form of personal expression. It is public and so that means there is a little responsibility on my part to be mindful of how another person may feel when he or she reads what I've written. But what it expresses is not the big and flashy but the mundane and ordinary. To me, blogging redeems the ordinary events and makes it significant. It forces me to savour each moment, to practise looking at life without rosy glasses. I am a journalist of my life here. I only hope that at one point in my life when I return here, I see a story. Not just any story, but a Story. Maybe that's why the Xanga didn't work out; fictions aren't worth pursuing in the end.
