Not I, but You

Filed under: Musings about life, Christianity, Christ - uliang @ 7:37 am

He who died on the tree has comforts me,

He who rules above has not forgotten me,

He who counsels me in quiet moments refreshens me.

He who walked on the dusty road guides me,

He who walkes the Milky Way charts a path for me,

He leads me to quiet pastures shows the way.

He who breathes life in all man, gives me my daily bread,

He who ate and drank with all man shares with me his table,

He who is the breath of life is my daily portion.

He is, he was and will always be.

Not I, but You Lord.

That teusday tabluex

Filed under: Daily thoughts - uliang @ 9:55 am

I remember writing horribly gushy poetry, unimaginative and unoriginal on my blog.

Honestly, I’m still not beyond that. I could, but I won’t. emoticon

Right now, this is how I’m feeling

That teusday tabluex, a display of one wasted monday.

Jobs done…

Filed under: Daily thoughts - uliang @ 8:19 pm

I decided to stop working for that company. Reached my target of doing 100+ surveys, at least from what I counted. But anyways, it was a great learning experience. Most of my coworkers were either interns or students (like me?) Nice getting to know ya’ll.

I’ve decided to start studying, or even pick up some cooking skills. Which means I have to do some heavy duty marketing but won’t do so until I get my pay. Then onli can estimate how much I should spend. I’ll be going back to M’sia after my convo, so expenses isn’t so much of a problem. And reasearch stipend comes in (after pro-rating and deducting misc. fees) on the 18th. So during these few months (July and Aug) have to be careful with expenses.

Yeps, until the next update.

A quaint little spot

Filed under: Daily thoughts - uliang @ 9:06 pm

There’s a secret place in the middle of Singapore City. One place where time seems to have stood still. I’m referring to the Tanjong Pagar conservation area, where the Maxwell road, Craig road and Duxton meet. Pubs, restaurants and bridal shops dot the area, but the architecture is virtually untouched from the original. And the place is just so quiet. As though the hustle and bustle of the city is shielded from it. A nice place to work and live. Too bad I didn’t bring my camera.

Cunning heh

Filed under: Daily thoughts - uliang @ 8:43 pm

I would be probably working all the way to the end of the month.

The maths honours graduating class gathering last saturday was a simple affair. SAFRA Mt. Faber, nice food and slideshow. I was seated with Prof Chong Chi Tat, the provost and A/P Leong, my ex-field theory lecturer. A guy from DSO was there as well, a recruiter.

He was talking about the very good deal that DSO gives to its employees to pursue a Phd. I naturally asked whether I was eligible, being a Malaysian. Guess his reaction….emoticon

Ah well…cunning.

I think will be attended May Yin’s convo, and the day after mine’s Faith and Yeo Huan’s one. Hmm..just for the record, my commencement is on the 9th, 10 am. Those who want to come should come at 12 noon.

Life preserved

Filed under: Daily thoughts - uliang @ 7:32 pm

Really want to thank God for preserving my life today.

Bus 197 (That’s the bus I take to work everyday) was just about to exit the bus stop lane when a blue bus kilang rammed into it from the side. The bus kilang bounced off the 197 from the impact and stood at and 20 degrees angle for about a second before toppling right side up.

Damn scary loh.

I mean, with such an impact the double decker 197 could have fallen flat and caused serious injury. Luckily nobody was hurt.

Whew, I disembarked and took 97 to work instead.

The whole incident left me shaken…only 5 minutes after. Talk about delayed reaction.

Lawlessness!

Filed under: News - uliang @ 7:06 pm

Have a look at this news paper article. Robbers make off with RM2.3 million.

But it’s just not any simple heist. It was a well planned, coordinated attack using heavy weaponry. Now the question is how did the robbers get hold of such weapons. Somehow, I don’t feel safe and secure knowing that guns can so easily obtained. Not only that, the robbers are so bold as to assault well trained guards.

Its as though, in Malaysia, if you have the guns, you can do anything you want. I just hope that these bandits are caught. That’s what they are, bandits.

Upside down cowboy

Filed under: Entertainment - uliang @ 5:20 pm

Watched the first five episodes of Cowboy Bebop. And yeah, it’s really good.

Bang

I guess, the pop-noir, the sci-fi and the music draws me in. Great concept and execution, all with style and substance to boot. Spike, Jet and Faye are all interesting characters, and for each episode (so far), there’s no clear cut good-guy vs. bad-guy battle. It’s makes the series so much more interesting.

Peanuts

Filed under: Musings about life, Job - uliang @ 9:04 pm

Someone once remarked that: "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys."

Sigh.

I’m sighing a lot nowadays.  Not that my job is incredibly stressful or particularly unpleasant. No, my supervisor is nice and so far none of the people I have surveyed have ever given me a harsh reply. All interviews were cordial.

It’s just that, compared to what other companies are paying their surveyors, I’m being paid peanuts. I just don’t know what to think. Okay, I guess I shouldn’t worry too much about the money. I know I have more than enough to use until August, and that’s when my stipend starts.

101 reasons to be bored

Filed under: Daily thoughts, Job - uliang @ 8:44 pm

Met up with Siew Teng jie and Andrew for lunch yesterday after church. Actually Andrew followed me to church.

Here’s the picture, FMC is in Commonwealth and ST was at Lavender. But we decided to meet up at?

Jurong Point!!

Sigh….

Today was another rather productive day. Just hope that tomorrow will be better.

Stepping big

Filed under: Daily thoughts, Musings about life, Job - uliang @ 8:09 pm

Today was interesting to say the least. Visited some placed which I would otherwise have no chance of stepping into.

Quite happy with the way my job is turning out. (That’s rather quick assessment for somebody who has only done it for two days)…

…but the downsides are usually failed appointments and lousy scheduling.

Well, better start learning from mistakes.
